Conquer the Cold Challenge Week 1

So we've had a bit of a rocky start with the getDowntown Challenge team, between office closings and being under the weather, but we're going to keep plowing through like all of you do when you show how to #OWNWINTER! So the challenge for this week is simply to log a commute using a mode that burns calories. You know you ate too much over Christmas, and, ahem, celebrated too much at New Year's, so get back at it with your active method of getting to and from work!

Over 35,000 Alternative Commutes Logged During 2018 Commuter Challenge
ANN ARBOR, MI – The getDowntown Program is excited to announce that over 35,000 alternative commutes were logged by almost 2,300 commuters in this year’s Commuter Challenge held during the month of May. These commuters, from 307 different organizations, commuted to work by walking, biking, taking the bus, carpooling, vanpooling and telecommuting.

Howard Walks Over Greg to Commuter Challenge Victory!

Trophy Awarded to City Administrator with Much Pomp and Circumstance
Ann Arbor City Administrator, Howard Lazarus literally walked over Washtenaw County Administrator, Greg Dill to score a victory in the 1st Annual Howard vs Greg Commuter Challenge.
The Administrators went head to head during the month of May to rack up alternative commuting points for the competition. Howard bested Greg with 28 alternative commutes to 16 alternative commutes.

More Than 2,400 People Competed in Commuter Challenge
ANN ARBOR, MI – The getDowntown program is excited to announce that more than 2,400 competed in this year’s Commuter Challenge held during the month of May. Of the over 2,400, more than 500 were new commuters that work across 280 organizations. These commuters logged nearly 38,000 alternative commutes by walking, biking, taking the bus, carpooling, vanpooling, telecommuting and even kayaking to work.
