It's Haiku Week!

It's Haiku week for Conquer the Cold and winter has definitely shown up. If you work in the Ann Arbor/Ypsi Area, register now (https://challenge.conquerthecold.org) and post your winter commuting Haiku on the getDowntown Facebook page or email it to: commute@theride.org. 

Prizes for randomly chosen winners include a $50 gift card to Sam's Store, $25 gift card to Ypsi Running Co. and a free bike tune up at one of our local participating bike shops. Winners announced 1/16/17.

To inspire you to continue to bus, bike and walk even during the winter, we're going to be featuring some awesome folks who are going to be commuting right along with you.

Maeve Sullivan is an Admin Assistant at the UM School of Nursing since March.

She's been a regular participant in our challenges and loves doing them.

The getDowntown Program recently received a shipment of bike lights and reflective vests.  Check out the picture above. Thanks again to the Ann Arbor DDA for providing the funds to make this purchase!

We care about your safety, so we are making these lights and vests available to downtown Ann Arbor employees (not UM-affiliated) for free.

We are particularly interested in getting them in the hands of employees who might not have the funds to purchase anything for themselves.

As bike commuters ourselves, we here at getDowntown have been especially saddened by the recent cycling deaths in Ann Arbor. 

Particularly because we are here to encourage people to walk, bike and bus.
