I-94 Public Input Meeting November 7th

MDOT needs your input to determine a preferred alternative for a series of mobility, reliability, and safety improvements along the I‐94 corridor from Ann Arbor‐Saline Road to US‐23. This is a heavily used commuter and freight corridor of regional and national significance.

Over 35,000 Alternative Commutes Logged During 2018 Commuter Challenge

ANN ARBOR, MI – The getDowntown Program is excited to announce that over 35,000 alternative commutes were logged by almost 2,300 commuters in this year’s Commuter Challenge held during the month of May. These commuters, from 307 different organizations, commuted to work by walking, biking, taking the bus, carpooling, vanpooling and telecommuting.

Congratulations to our 2018 Commuter Challenge Organization Winners and their Team Captains for getting your teams to join in and log alternative commutes. 

Honorable mention goes out to our next place finishers in each category who worked till the end to get their workmates to log those commutes.

Last Day of the Commuter Challenge!

It's been a fun and exciting month for the 2017 Commuter Challenge. Tomorrow is the last day for this challenge. Let's make it a good one!

We plan to send out a survey to get your feedback about how the challenge went and where you would like to see improvements. So, start thinking of the ideas you'd like to share with us.

Announcing the Final Stats and Winner of the 2017 Conquer the Cold Challenge

It's February and that means our Conquer the Cold Challenge is over. What a challenge it was!

Participation this year blew away last year by a whopping 47%! Yay for more alternative commuters!

According to the 2014 American Community Survey, Ann Arbor ranks #13 out of the Top 20 cities with the highest share of bicyclists.

This was reported by the League of American Bicyclists here.

At 5% commute by bike, we beat our Minneapolis, San Francisco, Washington DC, Seattle and several others when we comes to total number who bike commute by population.

The single greatest thing you can do to improve your life

As we have learned more about some of our Commuter Challenge participants, we've often amazed at how much changing your commute can change your life. 

Here's a post from Kayla Coleman.  Kayla works at the City of Ann Arbor and discovered some amazing benefits when she shortened her commute.

I truly believe that eliminating the daily drive to work is the single greatest quality of life improvement anyone can make.
