New Mobility & Accessibility Presentation
November 17, 2006Six brief yet diverse lectures will highlight a range of interacting dimensions related to emerging mobility and accessibility challenges in global regions, along with methodologies to address these challenges. Topics will include:
• The qualitative and quantitative relationships among land use, demand for mobility, and associated air pollution in rapidly developing cities in India and China
• Multi-agent modeling frameworks for evaluating various forms of government intervention that can help achieve balance between private and public transportation modes
• Applications of freight planning to address goods movement problems in urban core areas
• Applications of systems management methods to facilitate the structuring of complex problems with numerous stakeholders and unclear goals.
• Environmental justice and equity issues in transportation, as well as economic development and employment opportunities
• Understanding urban sustainability from an industrial ecology perspective, along with policy implications
