Commuter Challenge Step 3
Commuter Challenge Step 3: Log Your Commute!
Starting on May 1, the Commuter Challenge website will open a section to allow you to log your sustainable commute, earn points and win prizes! Please Note: You must sign up as a participant in order to log your commute! For instructions on how to sign up, please go to Commuter Challenge Step 1 or ask your Team Captain.
To log your Commute, please do the following:
- Go to: http://www.getdowntown.org/programs/commuter/
- Select your organization and enter the appropriate password
- Select your name from among the list of participants
- Select log your Commute
- Select the day or days you want to log your Commute. For example, if you biked to work on Thursday, select Thursday so you can log that commute. If you took the bus to work on Monday and Tuesday, you can select both days on the calendar so you can enter in both of the commutes at once.
- Select how you got to an from work. If you select multiple modes of transportation, you may be asked to enter in the amount of miles for each mode. So, for example if you walked and bused, you may be asked how many miles you walked. This is so we can figure out your calories burned.
- Enter in the number of sustainable miles traveled for your sustainable commute. Please note, the program will automatically fill in the number of miles you put in for your typical commute. If you took the bus from your house on a given day, the sustainable miles would probably be the same as your typical miles. However, if you drove to a Park and Ride Lot and then took the bus to work, you would only count the number of roundtrip miles you took on the bus.
- This number of miles is for one roundtrip commute. So even if you log two days at once and commute 10 roundtrip miles on each day of that commute, your sustainable commute total would still be 10. This is because the computer program multiplies the number of days you log by the number of miles per day. So if you select 3 days and select that you walked to work on each of those days and your typical commute is 4 miles, leave the number of sustainable commute miles as 4 and the computer will multiply that amount by the number of days you logged.
- During the month, you will be able to see all of the new modes you tried, the number of miles you've traveled, the number of calories burned, and more!
- If you have any questions, please contact your Team Captain, or email getdowntown@annarborchamber.org.
