![]() Zingerman's Delicatessen Opened in March of 1982 by Paul Saginaw and Ari Weinzweig in an historic building near the Ann Arbor Farmers’ Market, the Deli got its start with a staff of two, a small selection of great-tasting specialty foods, a host of traditional Jewish dishes and a relatively short sandwich menu. Today, Zingerman’s is an Ann Arbor institution, the source of great food and great experiences for thousands of visitors every year. Managing partners Grace Singleton and Rick Strutz and the whole Deli crew serve up thousands of made-to-order sandwiches with ingredients like Zingerman’s corned beef and pastrami, free range chicken and turkey, housemade chopped liver and chicken salad. The Deli also stocks an exceptional array of farmhouse cheeses, estate-bottled olive oils, varietal vinegars, smoked fish, salami, coffee, tea and much, much more. Washtenaw Technical Middle College Washtenaw Technical Middle College is a public, non-profit educational program in Ann Arbor that helps high school students to get a head start in full-time college coursework. We teach students the academic and life-management skills necessary for the independent college learning environment. WTMC offers specialized scientific and technical programs, including Computer Security, Robotics, Computer Animation, and Health Sciences. In 2008, nearly 70% of our graduates earned associate degrees the same day they received their high school diplomas. |
![]() Ann Arbor Credit Bureau The Ann Arbor Credit Bureau became a Michigan corporation in 1924 when the Ann Arbor Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors formed a credit bureau owned by its downtown business members. The Credit Bureau grew slowly from the one original part-time worker to a staff of eleven when it moved to its present location on Main Street in 1957. The company has had only three owners since inception: Jay L. Barrett 1928–1960; Robert J. Barden, Sr. 1960–2001; and Robert J. Barden, Jr. 2001–present. Collection placements have grown from $586 in September 1925, to an average of $40 million annually today. In July 2007 the Ann Arbor Credit Bureau became the first – and still the only – agency in Michigan to earn ACA International’s PPMS certification. ![]() Ann Arbor District Library The Ann Arbor District Library (AADL) system is composed of the Downtown Library, four branch libraries (Malletts Creek, Traverwood, West, Pittsfield). The AADL provides services at no charge to all residents living within the Ann Arbor School District's boundaries with services available to all others for a fee. The library system holds over 500,000 materials - books, DVDs, compact discs, magazines, audio books and more. In total, over 8 million items were checked out of the system during fiscal year 2007-2008! In addition to these items, thousands of people entered the library to utilize print and electronic reference resources, access the Internet through the Library’s fiber-optic connection, enjoy state-of-the-art Wi-fi service, participate in computer and Internet training, view a Library exhibit, or attend one of the Library’s many events. |
