Bus Basics

Bus Resources for Ann Arbor

The getDowntown program and the Ann Arbor Transit Authority (AATA) are here to help make your bus commute a little easier.  A few things available to you:

  • go!passes.  Remember that if you have a go!pass (or a University of Michigan MCard) you can ride all of the AATA buses and park in all Park and Ride Lots for free!  More information on go!passes is here: www.getdowntown.org/bus/gopass/index.html
  • Ride Guides. Can’t stand waiting for the bus?  Make sure you know the schedules.  Pick up a ride guide, updated seasonally with any route/schedule changes, on any bus, at the getDowntown Office or at the Blake Transit Center.  You can also order them for your place of work at www.theride.org/publications.asp.
  • Check out bus routes, schedules and the status of your bus online: Click on this link www.theride.org/routes.asp and just select your route and it will show you if you bus is early, on time, or late.  You can also check the status of buses from your wireless enabled PDA by going here: mobile.theride.org/
  • AATA has trip planning software: http://routes.aata.org/

Just too far from downtown?  Try these two options to split up your commute:

  • Park and Ride. Park all day for free at lots located at Green Rd, Miller Rd, Pioneer High School and State St/U-M Tennis Center.  For more information visit www.aata.org/parkandride.asp

  • Bikes on the bus. If your trip is a little longer than you expected, or maybe you only want to bike home from work, learn how to combine your trip.  All AATA buses are equipped with a front bike rack. You can learn more here: www.getdowntown.org/bus/bikes_bus.html

A Few Upcoming Bumps in the Road

It’s that time a year again!  As all of us Michiganders know, summer time means construction time.  Check out all detours and delays here: www.getdowntown.org/resources/Construction_x_Event_Information.html
