This just in! On Friday, May 17, Food Gatherers staff participating in the 2013 Commuter Challenge will bike to work in carrot costumes as part of National Bike to Work Day.
They will be visiting the Bike Commuting Stations set up throughout Ann Arbor
Food Gatherers is the food rescue and food bank program serving Washtenaw County. About 8 of Food Gatherers 24 staff members will participate in the challenge. They chose to dress as carrots in tribute to Food Gatherers’ carrot logo and to draw attention to the organization’s 24th annual fundraiser, Grillin’ for Food Gatherers.
Boarding locations at the Blake Transit Center (BTC) will be temporarily relocated starting Tuesday, May 14 for approximately two weeks due to utility work needed for the construction of the new Blake Transit Center building.

South Fourth Avenue Improvements Project Street Closing (May 14, 2013 through July 12, 2013) Location and Limits of Affected Area: S. Fourth Avenue between East Huron Street and Liberty Street, and the intersection of South Fourth Ave and Washington Street. Description of Construction: The project includes the replacement of the existing water main with a new 12-inch water main along South Fourth Avenue from East Huron Street to East Washington. The construction activities also include the installation of a stormwater management system, replacement of the curb & gutter, curb ramps, some sidewalk and reconstruction of South Fourth Avenue between East Huron Street and East Liberty Street.
